Two years ago a group of blueberry
growers decided to cooperate by engaging in common activities that required
mutual trust rather than large-scale investments or risky legal
transformations. The result was the "daar" Group, consisting of 6 farms adding up to 40 ha total area in 6 provinces and
growing some 130 000 blueberry bushes.
All plantations of the "daar" Group
are equipped with irrigation and fertigation systems, as well as cold stores.
All participants are founding members of the Blueberry Growers Association, an
organisation that was established in 1995 by growers and scientists conducting
research on blueberries. We began our activities by engaging in common
marketing: the promotion of our "daar" brand as the symbol of the highest
quality, the coordination of our presence on already existing markets, unified
logistics and distribution, as well as the search for new markets.
We adopted quality standards and
uniform packaging methods from labels and retail boxes to wholesale cardboard
boxes. This way we are able to offer a compatible line of products and respond
with flexibility to the changing demands of the market.
Although each member of the "daar"
Group is a seasoned blueberry grower, we still face new situations, and each
year brings new challenges. We feel that our journey has only just began...
